We welcome the last minute deal reached between the EU and UK that will apply provisionally from 1 January 2021. This agreement was always going to be about damage control. It is a comprehensive trade agreement representing the best possible outcome in this situation but it is of course much less valuable than the frictionless trade offered by the single market and customs union.
